NEOPERCUSION performs a program conformed by works that question the common idea of what is a percussion instrument.
Every piece in its own way proposes a new approach to what we think when we think about percussion, and each one of these radical approaches mix different elements and things to conform a singular universe of “percussive” sounds: a ping pong table, tape recorders, amplified surfaces, a turntable, reel to reel machines, transformed instruments; in addition to new media as: video, gesture follower devices, controllers and real time electronics.
Theatre, performance and actions are essential part of this avant-garde percussion program that rather proposes a question instead of giving answers: what does it mean to be a percussionist in the 21st century?
